Dell Storage with Microsoft Storage Spaces (DSMS) has been extended from its original SOFS (Scale-Out File Server) offering
We are excited to announce that the Dell Storage with Microsoft Storage Spaces offering has been extended from its original SOFS offering to include converged architecture options, which allows customers to run their virtual or physical workloads directly on the solution. The new SKUs are available for quoting and ordering today.
Converged solutions are available with DSMS 730 storage nodes and DSMS 1400 or DSMS 1420 storage enclosures and can be found in Dellstar under Solutions Templates.
In addition to the converged use model, this new release includes Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Edition, an option to accommodate volume licensing customers and several hard drive additions, including an 8TB NL-SAS drive, a 1.8TB 10K SAS drive and a 1.6TB SSD drive.
New “all-flash” SSD offerings are also available in the solution template for DSMS with SOFS and converged options.
The DSMS solution requires unique solution SKUs called solution IDs. These DSMS solution IDs are required when ordering a DSMS configuration, which is the only way to get access to the benefits such as performance and sizing, optimized server and storage components, single-payload updates, and solution-level technical support. If you are in a geographical area outside of the US, the solution IDs are not available at this time; however, you may reference the configuration name instead.
